Ms. Lawrence was born in Colorado, but moved to Wyoming as a young adult. She has called Wyoming home since, and makes her home in Laramie with her husband Mark.

She holds two degrees from the University of Wyoming. The first is a BS in Agricultural Communications. The second is a BS in Education. Her Master's degree is also in Education, from Walden University. Ms. Lawrence is a science teacher at Whiting Alternative High School in Laramie, WY.

She has also volunteered time in 4th grade classrooms to talk about Army laundresses and military life on the frontier in Wyoming. This earned her nickname, Miss Jennie.

Western history, particularly as it relates to women is a special passion. Miss Jennie became interested in Army Laundresses through a friend and has been researching them since then. She is a member of the U.S. Cavalry Association, and Women Writing the West.

Miss Jennie also enjoys riding and competing with horses, and holds a special place in her heart for Shetland ponies. She has been a 4-H leader, and is a strong supporter of all youth activities. Plants and gardening, needlework, and spending time in the outdoors are also interests. At any given time, at least one dog and one cat share her home, too.
